Multiage Family Groups Elementary classrooms at Polaris K-12 are multi-aged communities of learners with a wide range of gifts and abilities. Family groups are comprised of two grade levels (K-1, 2-3, or 4-5) and students stay with the same teacher both years. Teachers use developmentally appropriate practice in all decisions by considering the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development of each child. Students are active participants in their learning and teachers expect and encourage children to learn at their own rate. Curriculum is oriented towards process (rather than product) and uses authentic work and assessments.
