Health and Human Services

  • The Health and Human Services class is a fast-paced, introductory course designed for students interested in direct patient care and mental health (social service) support. Healthcare is the fastest growing profession in Alaska and students have the ability to integrate into community centers, hospital facilities, or home health care. This class includes supervised skill training in disease prevention (infection control and bloodborne pathogens); First Aid-CPR-AED; Mental Health First Aid; Basic vital signs and patient assessment; Mental health (counseling, grief and loss, experiential therapy, ability awareness, and human growth and development), digestive health and medications. The Health and Human Services class is building certification pathways through AMCS and UAA, Human Services.

     

    Grade level 11 and 12.
