Carpentry

  • Carpentry has an industry advisory board to keep the program relevant to industry standards. Students will develop skills using the latest equipment, materials, and methods of the building industry, including cold weather construction practices. The students will learn to build structures, read schematic drawings and follow technical directions. Students will develop confidence and problem-solving skills through the use of tools and the manipulation of materials. First semester students will develop carpentry skills through the building of various structures. Second semester students will continue to refine their carpentry skills by working on more complicated projects and assuming leadership roles. Third semester students will often be engaged in internships, on-the-job training, or other out-of-school placements.

     

    Grade level 11-12. May be taken 3 times with a grade of “C” or better to advance.
