School Visitors
We welcome visitors to our school! For the safety and security of our students, all visitors must present a valid ID to be scanned using the Raptor Technologies system. After scanning your ID, a visitor badge will be printed for you. When leaving, simply scan your badge to sign out.
If you wish to visit a classroom or volunteer, please arrange this in advance with your child's teacher to ensure availability and to avoid interrupting instruction. Additionally, we ask that you keep your cell phone silenced and conversations to a minimum to maintain a focused learning environment.
Thank you for your cooperation in supporting our school community!
Late Students and Early Pick Up
Please walk your child into school if s/he is arriving after 8:00. This is for children’s safety and to assist with a swifter transition to the classroom. If you are picking your child up early from school or dropping off items, please come by the office. We will coordinate this for you to minimize the impact on our instruction. We appreciate your assistance with this!
Birchwood ABC Student Dismissal Procedures
- Every family receives a car tag even if your child rides a bus, in the event that you pick-up your child.
- Car tags have your designated family number on it so that you can 1) hang on your mirror, or 2) put it visibly on the dash of your vehicle.
- A staff member will read car tag numbers via radio to classroom teachers who will then send all students associated with that number to the car pick-up line.
- Make sure that students only enter/exit the vehicle from the sidewalk door of the car, as there may be other vehicles passing SLOWLY to your left if they have their rider/s and need to exit.
- If your student is permanently riding with another family after school, we will give the family 2 separate car tags, and we will call both at parent pick-up
- If someone comes to pick up a child and does not have their car tag, then they must come to the front office to check student/s out with a valid ID.
- If you park in the parking area, we respectfully ask that you walk your child through the crosswalk and have your car tag in hand to show to the duty person calling car tag numbers.
- Parents should notify the office of any change to their regular transportation procedures prior to 2:00PM.
- Parents may not remove a student from the bus without prior notification to the office.
- Staff will report any unusual situations to the office and/or principal.

ASD Attendance Policies
Regular and timely attendance is critical for your child's academic success. If your child is going to be absent from school, please call our office at 742-3450 to excuse your child from school and to avoid receiving an automatic attendance phone call. Please follow the link to the Î÷Ê©Ö±²¥APP School District website for more detailed information about attendance policies.
Student and Staff Messages
Students and staff cannot come to the office to receive phone calls while class is in session. We will happily relay messages to staff and students. This will minimize disruptions in our classrooms.
Please communicate with your child before leaving about how s/he will be getting home at the end of the day. If there is a change to the plan, please call our office before 2:00. It can be very difficult to get important information to students and staff at the last minute. We want to avoid confusion and be certain your child gets home safely.
