The major roles and functions of the ASD school psychologist include:

To facilitate student learning and adjustment through collaborative problem solving and consultation with teachers, students, and parents;

To provide accurate, timely and comprehensive evaluations for students experiencing significant academic, behavioral, and/or social-emotional challenges and to support eligibility determination for special education services;

To carry out short-term, solution-focused direct intervention (including counseling and skills-based group instruction) when needed;
ASD School Psychologists are guided in their profession through the Principles for Professional Ethics and the Model for Comprehensive and Integrated School Psychological Services (NASP Practice Model) developed by the .

The mission of the Î÷Ê©Ö±²¥APP School District is “to educate all students for success in life.” School psychologists assist with this mission by bringing a broad knowledge base and a unique set of skills to support students throughout ASD. In the Î÷Ê©Ö±²¥APP School District, school psychologists are school based and supported by the Mental Health & Student Support (MHSS) Division to foster ongoing collaboration with other mental health providers and support staff.
School psychologists in the Î÷Ê©Ö±²¥APP School District collaborate with school teams to support and assess students facing significant academic, behavioral, or social-emotional challenges. They partner with families, teachers, and other community professionals to provide resources and services to support students and schools. They assist school teams in developing academic and behavioral interventions, providing crisis intervention and prevention, promoting suicide awareness, and offering grief counseling.
