AKSDHH provides an educational option for deaf and hard-of-hearing students, ages 3 to 22, from across Alaska. It fosters and supports the development of American Sign Language and spoken/written English so that each student has the tools necessary to achieve personal, academic, social, and vocational goals.
Due to the complexities of being housed in multiple school settings, AKSDHH supports the development and progress toward a bilingual-bicultural approach for students, staff, and families. To ensure that all communication is accessible during all instructional and meeting times, we require the appropriate team members to be fluent and competent in American Sign Language (ASL).
