Thank you for thinking of the Î÷Ê©Ö±²¥APP School District and for being an advocate for our students! There are many opportunities to get involved with our district and we are so happy you are here to help! Below are opportunities to get involved that we are highlighting at this time. We understand that everyone’s capacity for supporting our students varies so we are highlighting multiple opportunities that accommodate those differences. It takes an entire community working together toward a common goal to reach our mission of educating students for success in life so we are incredibly grateful for the support and involvement of our community.

Donating Directly to ASD
Financial contributions from community members in the form of cash donations to the Î÷Ê©Ö±²¥APP School District help support programs that directly assist our students. The programs and campaigns listed below aim to help students succeed in school by creating a more equitable educational environment to help us achieve our mission of educating all students for success in life. Please understand this list is not exhaustive. If you would like to donate in another area but do not see it listed, reach out to the Development and Grants office and we will help get your generous donation to your preferred school or program.
If you are interested in making a contribution to ASD, please fill out our and include it with your donation via mail or drop it off for us in person at our office in the Education Center, 2nd floor! Please understand, all private and corporate donations to ASD must be documented. Complete the , to the best of your ability and submit your check for our records. Districtwide Needs:
These are requests that we’ve received from departments directly as a need across the district. Current needs include:
- Funding for iPads, Chromebooks, and related materials
- STEAM material funding to create MakerSpaces (consumable materials, robotics, flexible seating, and more!)
- Field Trip funding for students
- Artist in Schools funding or volunteers
- Consumable art materials
- Theater program funding

AK State School for Deaf & Hard of Hearing (AKSDHH)
AK State School for Deaf & Hard of Hearing ( Provides an educational option for preK-12 deaf and hard of hearing students that fosters and supports the development of both American Sign Language and English. Current needs include:
- Winter Clothes for males sizes Youth Small, Medium and Large (coats, long sleeve shirts, pants, socks, and sweaters)
- Winter boots sizes 5,6,7,8

Benny Benson Alternative High School Programs
Benny Benson is an alternative high school for students in 9th-12th grades. Our school focuses on students that are behind on credits and students that struggle in a traditional setting. We help our students by designing schedules that support their individual circumstances. Our current needs include:
- Laundry Facility Cards
- Laundry Supplies
- Gas Cards
- Cab Vouchers
- Hygiene Kits (Toothbrushes, toothpaste, hairbrushes, feminine hygiene products, deodorant, soap, etc.)
- Winter Gear in adult sizes Small, Medium Large, XL, XXL (boots, mittens, gloves, hats, scarves, coats)
- Clothing in adult sizes Small, Medium Large, XL, XXL (sweaters, pants, t-shirts, etc)
- Socks in adult sizes
- Underwear (both male and female) in adult sizes Small, Medium Large, XL, XXL

Child in Transition (CIT)
ASD’s Child in Transition Program (CIT) provides services and supports to students and families that are or become homeless during the school year. CIT's main focus is providing educational stability, enrollment assistance and academic support to our students. Through generous community donations and grant funding, CIT assists families and students with supports that help on their path to self-sufficiency. Current needs include:
- School Supplies
- Clothing Vouchers
- Grocery Store Gift Cards
- Phone cards

Gifted Programs including Highly Gifted & Ignite
The ASD Gifted Program provides services for students identified as academically or intellectually gifted, offering a variety of services to students in grades K-12. There are over 4,500 students enrolled in the Gifted Program yearly. The program strives to be flexible and visionary in its focus both in order to meet the needs of identified students and to make some services available to all students. We realize that by raising the academic levels in the schools, all students benefit. Our current needs include:
- Direct funding for activities associated with IGNITE programming
- iPads for classrooms
- Funding and donations to our annual mentorship partners award ceremony

Specialized Academic Vocational Education (SAVE)
Specialized Academic Vocational Education () is an alternative high school within the Î÷Ê©Ö±²¥APP School District that specializes in working with juniors and seniors who are significantly behind in credit. Our highly qualified teachers provide academic curriculum including math, science, English, social studies, and physical education. Academics are combined with vocational experience training, service learning, and community involvement. Our current needs include:
- Men's and Women's socks
- Sweatpants men's/women's all sizes to include 2x-4x
- T-shirts men's/women's all sizes to include 2x-4x
- Tennis Shoes any sizes men/women
- Shelf Stable snacks- i.e. cup of noodle, Nutrigrain bars etc.

Whaley School
The mission of Whaley School is to align with the Î÷Ê©Ö±²¥APP School District while advancing the social-emotional development of students within an intensive and supportive learning environment. Whaley’s staff is committed to providing positive behavioral interventions and support to guide students successfully in transitioning back to their neighborhood school. Our current needs include:
- Hygiene Items (tooth brushes, toothpaste, deodorant, feminine hygiene products, facial wipes, body wash, soap, etc.)
- PBIS program pack cash to purchase items for positive behaviors

Preschool Programs
The ASD Preschool program values the importance of families in early education. Special education services are available for children ages 3-5. In addition, many schools offer general education preschool programs for children who are 4-years-old on or before Sept. 1st. Current Needs include:
- Funding for consumable classroom materials (books, construction paper, crayons, STEAM manipulatives, etc.)
Donating to ASD Teachers through DonorsChoose.Org

Many of our teachers across the district are utilizing the crowdsource funding platform, DonorsChoose.org to fund specific projects for their classrooms. When projects are fully funded, DonorsChoose.org orders the requested items and ships them directly to the teacher’s school. You can be sure that your generous donations are going directly to ASD students through this platform. You can find a list of all ASD affiliated projects and how you can support them by the.
Please note for your records, that when helping fund an ASD teachers classroom project, you are donating to Donorschoose, not ASD.
PTA/PTO Involvement

PTA’s, PTO’s, Booster Clubs, and other parent organizations exist to further the mission of the individual schools and communities they represent and provide opportunities for parents and community members to support student activities, school initiatives, and community projects. These organizations are vital to the success of each individual school and are incredibly important to our students and school community.
