What is i-Ready Classroom Mathematics?

i-Ready Classroom Mathematics is a robust mathematics program that will help your student become a strong, independent mathematical thinker. The program uses an enhanced and strategic approach to math instruction, focusing on reason, problem solving, and student-to-student conversations about conceptual mastery. Students have the opportunity to tackle complex concepts, and hone their critical thinking skills about mathematics.

Why was a new curriculum adoption needed in math?
The District initiated the new curriculum search after learning that the previous K-6 math program Go Math was going to be discontinued. The Î÷Ê©Ö±²¥APP approved the adoption of i-Ready Classroom Mathematics during the April 7, 2020 board meeting. The District completed its pilot program and teacher training in spring 2021.

How will i-Ready Classroom Mathematics be different than our previous curricula?
The i-Ready Classroom Mathematics curriculum provides student-centered lessons designed to enrich students’ understanding of mathematical concepts. The in-school curriculum can be supplemented with digital math tutorials in the i-Ready platform (accessed via Clever) that are tailored to each student’s individual needs.
Students have the time and flexibility to learn strategies that work for them, there isn’t one definitive way to do math. Students learn through real-life applications that include critical thinking and problem solving. -
What is the iReady Diagnostic, and how does it work with i-Ready Classroom Mathematics?
The i-Ready Diagnostic assesses student learning needs and provides reports for teachers to determine how to meet those needs. Personalized Lessons are provided for students based on the result of the i-Ready Diagnostic assessment. The i-Ready Diagnostic also provides a starting point to measure how much students grow during the year.

How can families help students with i-Ready Classroom Mathematics?
Family letters are available in the student worktext at the beginning of each lesson. These letters provide details on how families and caregivers can help their students with each lesson.
The family letters for each lesson, as well as videos that show how the lessons within each unit are connected, are also available in the Family Resource Help Center found here: (please note to log in via student’s Clever account in Step 1).
Top Five Tips for Helping Your Child Succeed in Math
- Create an organized, quiet, and well-lit space where your child can focus.
- Make math a family affair by involving your child in the family budget, cooking together, or playing math games.
- Encourage conversations and questions about math and search for solutions to problems together.
- Support positive thinking by modeling a can-do attitude. Avoid comments such as, “I am not a math person.”
- Promote a growth mindset by praising your child for effort and persistence rather than being “right” or “smart.”

What materials should families expect to see at home with i-Ready Classroom Mathematics?
Students will have access to a worktext in class. This worktext includes the in-class materials, additional practice problems, family letters, and a math glossary. They will also have access to a digital version of the worktext on their i-Ready Digital Bookshelf (available through Clever).
